The desktop conference system is the system that enables to hold conference through the communication network for people not remotely separated from each other, and is on the development stage throughout the world.
In this thesis, a PC-based desktop conference system on the LAN has been designed and implemented. The architecture of this system consists of a conference server and client. Conference server is implemented onto workstation and it can support multiple conferences simultaneously. The clients, which consists of the PC system, can communicate from each other through the conference server.
Conference Server is composed of two parts, one manages conferences collectively and the other controls respective conference and distributes to several participants the media data provided from each clients. Conference client implemented onto a PC is divided into three parts : User interface, conference agent, and white board. User interface lists information of conferences collectively and conference agent displays information of respective conference, and white board provides a shared workspace to participants.
탁상 회의 시스템은 사람들이 직접 만나지 않고 네트워크를 통하여 회의를 할 수 있는 시스템으로 현재 전세계적으로 연구되고 있다.
본 논문에서는 LAN상에서 PC를 이용한 탁상 회의 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 구현한 시스템은 워크스테이션에서 구현된 Conference Server 를 통하여 여러 PC들이 회의할 수 있도록 하는 집중 구조 형식으로 되어 있으며 동시에 여러 회의들을 지원한다.
Conference Server는 두개의 프로그램으로 구성되어 있으며 하나는 전체 회의를 관리하고 다른 하나는 각 회의에 대한 제어와 발생된 미디어 데이타를 여러 참가자들에게 분배해 주는 기능을 한다. PC에서 구현된 Conference Client는 User Interface와 Conference Agent, White board로 되어 있다. User Interface는 전체 회의 정보를 보여 주고 Conference Agent는 한 회의에 대한 정보를 나타내며 White board는 여러 참가자들이 공동 작업을 할 수 있는 공간을 제공한다.
