ICO, which recently funded through cryptocurrency, has been shown visible growth, with the commitment promise to block-chain project development. Funds procured through ICOs from 2017 to February 2018 are more than 3.5 times financed through venture capital.
Based on previous researchers on motivation theory and crowdfunding motivation, this study derived factors influencing the satisfaction and future intention of ICO investors and set hypothesis.
This study analyzed 196 people who have experienced ICO investment through domestic cryptocurrency and ICO related online communities. This study found that (1) challenge motivation, (2) thrill motivation, (3) familiarity in investing field, (4) monetary compensation, (5) practical needs, (6) subjective norm have a significant effect on the investor’s satisfaction and intention. Among the investment propensity, analytical orientation had a moderating effect on the relationship between challenge motivation and satisfaction. It also played an influential role in the relationship between financial motivation and satisfaction.
최근 스타트업들이 블록체인 프로젝트 개발에 대한 약속을 조건으로 가상통화를 통해 자금을 조달하는 ICO가 뚜렷한 성장세를 보이고 있다. 2017년 이후부터 2018년 2월까지 ICO를 통해 조달된 자금이 벤처캐피털을 통해 조달된 자금은 3.5배가 넘는다. 이에 본 연구에서는 동기이론과 크라우드 펀딩 참여 동기에 대한 선행연구를 바탕으로 ICO 투자자의 만족도와 지속참여의도에 영향을 줄 수 있는 요인을 도출하였고, 가설을 설정하였다. 국내 가상통화 및 ICO 관련 온라인 커뮤니티 등을 통해 ICO투자 경험이 있는 196명을 기반으로 분석한 결과, 투자자의 동기 중 도전동기, 흥분동기, 투자분야 친숙도, 금전적 보상 동기가 만족도에 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였으며 도전동기, 친숙도, 실질적 필요 동기, 주관적 규범 동기가 지속참여의도에 유의한 영향이 있음을 입증하였다. 투자성향 중에는 분석지향 성향이 도전동기와 만족도의 관련성에 조절효과가 있었으며 금전적 보상 동기와 만족도의 관련성에도 영향을 주었다.
