In narrative communication, a recipient interprets the information delivered through a discourse, which has been transformed from the knowledge structure in a story world designed by the author. Modeling the information processing of recipient based on the common rationality and evaluating the recipient's knowledge state can reduce the cognitive workload of authors in composition and verification of the narrative knowledge structure. In this thesis, the computational model of narrative knowledge, which has been studied from the same authoring support perspective in which it helps to compose the abstract knowledge structure and leaves any artistic and/or creative works to authors, extends the qualitative relation and reasoning rules to represent and interpret the knowledge structure and state more intuitively, and a method to refine the knowledge structure with respect to the knowledge state that reflects the author's intention. The validity of the proposed model may be confirmed through the case studies in which two cinematic narratives and a short articulated one has been analyzed by means of the model.
