This research extends previous literature by finding links between the behavioral factor and cognitive thinking styles to promote creativity and to gain an insight into the creative process. We have focused on the relationship between two creative behaviors, variance- and selection-focused behaviors, and the cognitive framework Dual Pathway to Creativity Model to observe this relationship. 216 full-time employees were recruited through the MTurk platform and was given a survey that measured for creative behavior, creativity, and two cognitive pathways, cognitive persistence and cognitive flexibility. Our findings showed that variance-focused behavior has a positive significant relationship with cognitive flexibility whereas selection-focused behavior has a negative significant relationship with cognitive flexibility. In other words, when individuals are variance-focused they are thinking flexibly as opposed to when they are behaving selection-focused.
본 연구는 행동 요인과 인지적 사고 방식의 연관성을 찾음으로써 창의성을 촉진하고 창의적 과정에 대한 통찰력을 얻으려고 한다. 이에 따라 두개의 창조적인 행동, 의견 다양화 행동 및 의견 선별 행동과 창의성으로의 이중 경로 모델 관계를 탐구하였다. MTurk 플랫폼을 통해 216 정규직 직원을 수집하였고 창의적인 행동, 창의성, 그리고 인지 지속성과 인지 유연성이라는 두 가지 인지 경로를 설문 조사했다. 결과적으로 의견다양화 행동이 인지 유연성과 긍정적인 관계를 보여주었다. 반면으로 의견 선별 행동은 인지 유연성과 부정적인 관계가 나타났다. 개인이 의견 선별 행동 하는 것 보다 의견 다양화 행동으로 유연하게 생각할 수 있는 결과를 보였다.
