The consequences of employee volunteering, one of the most significant trends in Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, is often investigated under the assumption that such prosocial activity is good for everyone. However, in this article, we demonstrate that there is a negative side of the employee volunteering as well. Using Conservation of Resources theory, we investigate the resource investment in employee volunteering during work time can influence employee’s performance in creativity tasks. Furthermore, we show that this negative relationship does not exist for those employees with high level of affective commitment.
최근 들어, 기업이 사회적 책임을 다하기 위해 사회공헌 활동으로 직장인 봉사를 행하는 사례가 많아지고 있다. 직장인 봉사에 대한 선행 연구는 주로 친사회적 활동이 모든 사람에게 이익이 된다는 가정하에 조사되었지만, 본 연구에서는 직장인 봉사의 부정적인 영향이 있음을 입증한다. 이 논문에서는 자원 보존 이론을 사용하여 직원 봉사에 대한 자원 투자가 창의적인 사고를 하는 것에 영향을 줄 수 있다는 것을 설명한다. 또한, 회사에 대한 정서적 몰입이 높은 직원들에게는 이러한 부정적인 관계가 존재하지 않는 것을 보여줌으로서 정서적 몰입의 조절 효과를 보여준다.
