Human life has been developed through the continuous pursuit for something non-existing before: newness. In the pursuit and development of newness, creativity has been always played critical role. Creativity became far more important ever since human beings' needs become highly complicated and diversified. Particularly it is very true to designers whose role is to transform human beings' needs for newness into new product design. However, in spite of the importance of creativity in design, creativity is mainly practiced in the middle of design process rather than from the early stage of design process, which is very important stage to formulate the whole design problem and set the basic design concept. Creativity is very demanding in the early stage of design process because the newness of product heavily dependent upon in this stage.
In these backgrounds, the objectives of the study are set as follows:
· To develop the process for effective implementation of creativity for establishing the comprehensive design concept in the early stage of design process.
· To understand the role of creativity in the early stage of design process and to implement creativity systematically.
The study starts by discussing the background, objectives, and scope of the study. It is followed by understanding the fundamentals of creativity and reviewing the existing creative problem solving techniques. Based on the findings of precedent part of study, Creativity Implementation Techniques are developed and proposed. It guides user step by step into structured creative design process in detail through diverse creative techniques and worksheet. Case study of design of desktop fan is shown for demonstrating the creativity implementation techniques. Finally findings of the study are summarized and further study is outlined.
