As online social networking service becomes popular, people are more actively using social network to share opinions on new products or information. At the same time, company has a new marketing opportunity to use social network via accessing social network datasets. Thus, there has been extensive research to understand the social diffusion. In this thesis, to understand the social diffusion, we model the strategic behavior as a networked coordination game and study the prominent feature in the social diffusion. In particular, according to our analysis on the game diffusion model, it turns out that clustering structure of social networks plays an important role. Using this, we study how to design social marketing strategy to spread new products where the marketing strategy depends on the clustering structure in social networks.
온라인 소셜 네트워킹 서비스의 발달로 더 많은 사람들이 소셜 네트워크를 통해 더 빠르게 신제품에 대한 소식과 의견을 나눌 수 있게 되었다. 동시에 기업들은 온라인 소셜 네트워크 상의 소비자들의 신제품에 대한 반응에 대한 데이터를 분석하여 보다 효과적인 마케팅 전략을 기획할 수 있는 기회가 생겼다. 이와 관련하여 사회 확산을 어떻게 이해하고 사용할 수 있는 지에 대해 활발한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 제품을 고를 때 개인이 주변 사람과 자신 사이의 효용을 극대화 하기 위한 전략적인 행동을 수학적으로 모델하여, 신제품이나 새로운 소문이 퍼지는 사회 확산 현상을 연구한다. 구체적으로 소셜 네트워크의 클러스터링 구조가 사회 확산의 양상을 결정하는 중요한 요소임을 이론적으로 밝혀내고, 이를 활용한 이론 결과 및 시뮬레이션에 기반하여, 신제품의 확산을 돕기 위해서는 어떤 사람에게 얼마나 많은 마케팅 자원을 집중해야 하는지에 대한 지침을 과학적으로 제시하고 있다.
