Supply chain management researches have traditionally focused on maximizing pre-tax profits or pre-tax costs by considering key elements like production costs and physical distance. The role of taxes is not mainly considered. However, many multinational firms (MNFs) have recognized tax is one of the important factor to maximize their net profit. MNFs can strategically allocate their profit to subsidiaries which is in the low tax country to improve their post-tax profits. To allocate profit, that subsidiary has to take decision making authority and meaningful risk that uncertain market can make. It creates inefficiencies to MNFs because of decentralization can make double marginalization effect. Additionally, outsourcing can be crucial option at constructing local division. We model these things as different delegation levels to analyze tradeoffs between them. Unlike previous studies, we also consider arm’s length principle which is a crucial accounting concept that must be kept for fairness. Ultimately, this paper can help firms choose an appropriate operating structures more systematically.
