In this study, two major digital systems utilizing Apple II μ-computer were introduced as the results of a year long R & D activities. One of them is low cost on-line data acquisition system and the other is spark timing and throttle valve opening control system.
This thesis presents a number of examples of the applications of these systems to real engine test works. The main example is shown with the on-line data which converts the rapidly changing analog signals from various pressure transducers to digital ones and process them into useful informations such as p-θ, p-V, log p-log V diagrams, and various hps, meps.
The digital systems controlling the spark timing and throttle valve opening displayed the speed and accuracy in selecting the desired engine running condition.
