This study investigates the effect of draw bead on drawing load for two simple cases : The first case is for strip drawing with a circular single draw bead, while the second case is for cup drawing with a circular single draw bead at a distance from the die cavity. Both cases are analyzed theoretically by solving equilibrium equations with given stress - strain relationship and given yield condition. There shows a better agreement in punch loads between theory and experiment for the cup drawing than for the strip drawing. The result from experiments shows that the drawing load is mainly dependent on the height of the draw bead, and that it is also considerably dependent on the friction coefficient.
