This paper presents a novel MEMS inertial multi switch using a liquid-metal droplet and ball bearing for smart projectile fuze inertial switch. We developed the point at issue of existing solid-type acceleration switch's abrasion and complex fabrication. Liquid-metal droplet has advantageous properties like high surface tension, high density and good electrical conduction. The old switch has served as limited ON-OFF function however this new one provide with characteristic of multi switch throughout various channels. We consider a several point of fabrication method. First, we regarded device character with function of height, width and acceleration. Second, we take a liquid metal into consideration like a reaction with some material. Third, we introduce SU-8 photoresist process. It is easier and cheaper than LIGA process and metal cutting process despite it has a hard to meet precise etching rate. Last, We develop a method of covering problem. Glass slide is not equal to cover at the not flat cover surface. So we adopted PDMS for cover material. Of course it show a marked trend stick to most of metal. But we changed the surface character by coating SDS or NANO Form solution on the PDMS surface. The other inertial switch type is flexible solid-type using Ball bearing. Frankly speaking, multi channel liquid-metal switch has a tendency to scattering problem in high G-value. Two methods can be employed when solving this problem. We switched around the mass and mold design to what the conditions were and vice versa to so as to get accurate result. We use metal ball bearing and PDMS mold cover for liquid metal and SU-8 photoresist. The changes that new designs have brought on the results are enormous. We carry out the 5 times experiments in the same condition and get same result 275G-value.
And lastly we introduce capacitance switch using low pass filter. Ball bearing has point contact so it has difficult to measure resistance and cannot carry out conductor like liquid metal. So we use the capacitance difference at metal ball bearing on the electrode or not.
