Nowadays, World Wide Web has become major route in information transmission and communication. And the studies on interface and cognition- engineering has become issues of general interest as newly design-methods which analyze the behavior of users on the Web. However existing studies were mainly done with verbal-centered methods, which made it difficult for designers to apply the results to realization of user-centered Web design. Moreover many mistakes and noises are taken place whenever designers convert verbal statement of user into real form of Web pages. Therefore, designers need the analysis of visual perception on the Web as visual-centered methods to convert needs of user into real design works. This study use eye mark recorder as analysing-instrument and aims to develope the process of measurement and analysis, and the concrete techniques which can be applied to Web design.
At first the nature and the process of visual perception on the Web are reviewed for developing analysis method. Then the technique of eye mark recorder and the meaning of fixations and movement in measurement are discussed to specify the concrete method. The basic experiments of Web pages can reveal general analysis process, advantage and guidelines when new visual analysis methods are applied to Web design. The analysis is performed through the following five steps : to pre-research into the target and users ; to identify the concrete experiment methods ; to measure the fixations and movement data of users ; to analyze the data from eye mark recorder and other supportive media ; to convert the result of analysis to the visual frameworks which were applicated with the Web design. Following this development of methods, actual cases of the analysis on the functions of graphic elements of the Web pages are demonstrated to evaluate the validity of visual analysis and show the actual application on Web design.
Finally, major findings and the limits of the study are identified and summarized.
오늘날, 월드 와이드 웹은 정보전달 및 커뮤니케이션을 위한 중요한 수단으로 활용되고 있다. 그리고 웹 사용자의 행동을 분석하기 위한 인터페이스 및 인지공학에 관한 연구가 최근 활발히 진행되고 있다. 하지만 언어적 수단에 의존한 기존의 연구는 그 결과를 디자인 개발에 적용하기에 많은 어려움이 있었으며, 그 과정에 있어서 많은 오류가 발생되는 한계를 지니고 있었다. 사용자의 안구운동 측정을 통한 사용자 니즈 분석은 이러한 기존 연구 방법의 한계를 극복하기 위한 수단으로서 활용될 수 있다. 우선 분석 방법의 개발을 위해 웹 사용자들의 시지각 특성 및 과정에 관한 연구가 진행되었으며, 안구운동 측정기의 기능 및 시지각 고정점, 주시패턴의 의미에 관한 기본적인 연구가 진행되었다. 이때 웹페이지에 관한 기본적인 연구의 수행은 이의 특성을 발견하고 시지각 분석 방법을 개발하기 위한 가이드라인 도출 및 이점 파악에 도움을 준다. 실제 분석의 과정은 다음과 같은 다섯 단계를 통해 이루어진다 : 연구 대상 및 사용자의 특성에 관한 기초 연구 ; 실험 방법의 개발 ; 피험자의 시지각 고정점 및 주시패턴 측정 ; 안구운동 측정기 및 보조 측정 장치의 데이터 분석 ; 웹 디자인에의 적용을 위한 분석 데이터의 전환. 이러한 과정을 통해 실제 웹페이지의 구현에 있어 그래픽 요소가 지니는 역할에 관한 평가가 이루어지며 동시에 본 연구 과정을 통해 개발된 평가 방법의 타당성을 검증하게 된다. 마지막으로, 주요 발견점 및 금후 연구과제의 제시가 이루어진다.
