Travel planning involves multiple interdependent decisions. Existing literatures have conducted research on the decision-making behavior of travelers without exploring this interdependence. This study conducted an analysis of exploring traveler's decision-making behavior between mode choice and itinerary, by using paper based survey data of air arrival visitors to the Jeju Island. It is interesting to inquire if itinerary of traveler is dependent on mode chosen or a mode is chosen according to the travel itinerary. To accomplish this, new methodological framework, copula based discrete count joint model is used. In the joint framework, mode choice is modeled using binary logit model and itinerary is modeled using zero truncated poisson regression model. To represent the interaction between decisions, seven different copula structures are used for each decision order. The results of the analysis show that travelers choose transportation mode first before making an itinerary. In addition, it was confirmed that the unknown common variables between travel itinerary selection and transportation choice have a positive correlation, with student t-copula as their dependency structure. In terms of effect of variables on both decisions, the travel characteristic variables used in the analysis showed statistically high significance except for the day of the week variable. In contrast, socio-demographic variables showed no statistical significance. Our research highlights that, it is necessary to establish a transportation policy that takes into account the specific hierarchical relationship between traveler's itinerary decision and mode selection.

여행 계획에는 상호 의존적인 여러 복합의사결정이 포함된다. 기존 문헌들은 이러한 상호 의존성 고려 없이 여행자의 의사결정 행태 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구는 제주 공항 이용 여행자를 대상으로 일년간 수집된 설문 조사 자료를 활용하여 여행자의 의사결정 행태를 상호 의존성을 고려한 분석을 수행하였다. 이를 위해 새로운 코퓰라 기반의 이산 결합 모델 프레임워크 분석 방법론을 제시하였다. 결합 모델 프레임워크는 수단 선택 모형으로 이항 로짓 모형을, 여정 결정 모형으로 절단된 포아송 회귀 모형을 활용하여 구성된다. 의사 결정 간의 상호 의존성을 고려하기 위하여 각 프레임워크별로 7개의 다른 코퓰라 구조를 이용하였다. 분석 결과는 여행자들은 여정 결정 전에 교통 수단을 먼저 선택한다는 것을 보여준다. 또한 여행 일정 결정과 교통 수단 선택 간의 잠재 공통 변수들은 양의 상관관계를 가지며, 스튜던트 티-코퓰라 구조를 가지고 있음을 확인하였다. 분석에 사용된 여행 특성 변수들은 요일 변수를 제외하고 모두 통계적으로 높은 유의성을 나타내었으며, 사회 인구학적 변수는 통계적 유의성이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 교통 정책 수립 시 여행자의 여정 결정과 수단 선택 간의 특정 계층 관계를 사전에 정의하는 것은 편향을 유발시킬 수 있으므로, 이를 고려한 정책 수립이 필요하다.
