Systems, having combined Augmented Reality with the Semantic Web technologies, enable visitors of the heritage site to query and consume cultural heritage data on the web. However, these systems usually serve as data providers rather than providing support for cultural heritage interpretation. The interpretation of heritage sites should explore the significance of a site in its multifaceted historical, political, spiritual, and artistic contexts. Therefore, this research studied the application method of KCHDM ontology for the development of a mobile AR information service to aggregate and provide cultural heritage data contextually. With a case of Injeongjeon and the vicinity of Changdeokgung Palace, we extracted data from five Korean cultural heritage web databases and designed information through three mapping phases. We implemented the application and conducted user studies to provide directions that will be useful for designing information to support visits to heritage sites, and discussed how the AR technology could improve the application.

최근 증강현실과 시멘틱 웹 기술의 결합은 문화유적지 방문객들이 현장에서 증강현실 시스템을 통해 웹상의 방대한 문화유산 정보를 질의하고 소비할 수 있게 하였다. 그러나 이러한 시스템들은 단순히 정보 제공자의 역할에 머물며 사용자들의 문화유산 해석을 지원하지 않는다. 문화유적지의 해석과 제시는 유적지를 중심으로 서로 이어져 있는 다양한 측면의 문화유산을 고려해야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 문화유산 데이터의 맥락적 통합과 제공을 위해 한국 문화유산 데이터 모델 (KCHDM)의 모바일 증강현실 시스템 적용 방안을 연구하였다. 창덕궁 인정전 일원을 대상으로 5개의 한국 문화유산 웹 데이터베이스의 데이터를 추출, 3단계의 맵핑 과정을 통해 KCHDM을 적용하여 정보를 디자인하였다. 또한, 모바일 증강현실 정보서비스 프로토타입 개발 및 적용 실험을 통해 추후 관련 서비스를 제공하고자 할 때 고려할 점들을 파악하였다. 본 연구는 문화유산 시멘틱 정보서비스에 있어 웹 플랫폼 중심으로 연구되어 상대적으로 연구가 부족했던 모바일 증강현실 시스템을 대상으로, 문화유적지에서 맥락 관계를 통한 정보 제공을 가능하게 하는 서비스의 기반을 마련하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
