In this paper, a hierarchical time series forecasting using International Patent Classification data was studied. In previous studies, there were no studies that forecasted the number of patent applications by international patent classification, and most of the previous studies had limitations in terms of forecasting methods and results utilization, such as predicting the total amount of patent applications on an annual basis. Using domestic patent data, the number of patent applications was forecasted for each model, and a model with relatively high predictive power was selected by comparing the prediction power using the mean absolute error (MAE). In addition, patent applications for the next 5 years (2021-2025) were forecasted by hierarchical level of international patent classification using the selected model. In addition, technology/industrial trends were analyzed using the prediction results and the technology/industry concordance table. The possibility of additional utilization of the forecasting results, such as patent and industry linkage analysis and management of patent examiners at the Korean Intellectual Property Office was suggested.
본 학위논문에서는 국제특허분류 데이터를 활용하는 계층적 시계열 예측 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 선행연구에서 특허출원량을 국제특허분류 계층별로 예측한 연구는 존재하지 않았고, 대부분의 선행연구가 전체 특허출원량을 연단위로 예측하는 등 예측 방법과 결과 활용 측면에서 한계점이 존재하였다. 국내 특허 데이터를 국제특허분류 계층별로 수집 및 활용하여 예측모형별 특허출원량을 예측하였고, 평균절대오차(MAE)를 사용한 예측력 비교를 통해 예측력이 상대적으로 높은 모형을 선정하였다. 또한, 선정된 모형을 활용하여 향후 5년(2021~2025년)의 특허출원량을 국제특허분류의 계층적 단계별로 예측하였다. 또한, 예측 결과와 기술·산업 연계표를 활용하여 기술·산업적 트렌드를 해석하였다. 특허와 산업 연계분석 및 특허청 심사인력 관리 등 예측 결과의 추가적인 활용 가능성을 제시하였다.
