Internet characterized with huge size and rapid growth becomes the source of useful information. So many researches are conduced to provide easy way to access the Internet information. In the researches, searching is recognized as the most feasible approach in large information space. Archie which provides search over global FTP information doesn't overcome the drawback of namebased search.
In this paper, we propose a new model that enables users to find relevant information by keyword over global FTP information space. In this model, we designed two objects, FTP Agent, which produces index information, and Index Server, which indexes the collected keyword and provides users with search results by Mosaic interface. By keyword indexing our system satisfies two factors of effective search, representativeness and space efficiency. As a sample implementation, users can get more relevant results compared with Archie.
