An off-line single-switch single-stage converter is described which is operated with high input power factor while maintaining tight regulation at its output. Unlike other single switch topology, the proposed converter is operated well in a wide load range and it has relative low voltage/current stress. The proposed converter has extremly high power factor without any power factor correction control. Moreover, it is operated well by simple PWM control because the proposed converter has very good low frequency ripple characteristic at its output. Sinusoidal and in-phase input current is obtained even with constant duty-cycle. The proposed converter structure is simple and cheap, allowing considerable size and cost reduction. The line harmonics and distortion meet the IEC 555-2 regulations.
