In order to reduce the vibration and the structure-borne noise of a structure under operation, the deflection shape of the structure should be analyzed first of all. In this study the method of extracting Operational Deflection Shape (ODS) from vibration signals of an operating structure is studied, and a software MultiODS for the visualization of ODS is developed. The software is constructed to be used in personal computers under Windows environment.
Among various methods for extracting the ODS, Principal Component Analysis(PCA) method has many advantages. This method is robust to the noise and can extracts ODS in case of several random inputs. In this software, PCA method is adopted.
By applying the software to the analysis of vibration signals from an operating motor and an idling passenger car, the feasibility and applicability of the software are confirmed.
