Explanation of an acceleration canceling hydrophone is presented briefly. Robust design of an hydrophone is done using Taguchi method. Objective functions are to minimize acceleration sensitivity and to maximize acoustic sensitivity. To reduce time during design process, piezoelectric tube, urethane and zig are designed stepwisely. Compared to the results of one-step design, the coupling effects among control factors are showed. At last, the acceleration sensitivity is reduced by about 30 dB. Stepwise design maintaining the remaining system reduced the coupling effects.
