The purpose of this study is to predict the drift error of two gimbal type symmetric Dynamically Tuned Gyroscope(DTG), and to find the sensitivity of design parameters to the error. The equation of motion of multi-gimbal type DTG is first reduced to that of two gimbal type DTG and the drift error model is developed.
Based on the error model, the drift error of a DTG model is calculated for the design specifications on error parameters. And the sensitivity analysis of design parameters to the drift error is performed using Taguchi method.
Then the optimal design parameters for the DTG model are derived. It is found that the most sensitive parameters of the DTG include rotor speed and diametral mass moment of inertia of gymbal.
