Startups are important actors contributing to the national economy, and the growth and success of startups are the main concerns of economic actors. B2B SaaS is one of the most successful types of startups, given its recent financial performance. However, in Korea, the growth of startups in the B2B SaaS field is relatively low, and related research is also lacking. In this study, 20 successful B2B SaaS startup companies were selected and basic corporate data was collected and analyzed, and then case study was performed on 3 startups to determine the characteristics and success factors in stages of growth of B2B SaaS startups. Successful B2B SaaS startups initially have an understanding of business processes and technical capabilities, and use industrial clusters and networks to verify their marketability. In addition, they show growth by utilizing cloud infrastructure and global business development capabilities, and continuously complement and expand its portfolio through active mergers and acquisitions.
스타트업은 국가 경제에 기여하는 중요한 주체이며, 스타트업의 성장과 성공은 경제 주체들의 주요 관심사이다. B2B SaaS는 최근의 재무적 성과를 고려했을때 가장 성공적인 스타트업 유형 중 하나라고 할 수 있다. 하지만 국내 B2B SaaS 분야 스타트업의 성장은 상대적으로 저조하며, 관련 연구 또한 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 20개의 성공적인 B2B SaaS 스타트업 기업을 선정해 기초적인 기업 데이터를 수집 및 분석한 후, 그 중 3개 스타트업에 대해 사례분석을 실시함으로써 B2B SaaS 스타트업의 특성과 성장단계별 성공요인을 파악하고자 하였다. 성공적인 B2B SaaS 스타트업은 초기에 비즈니스 프로세스에 대한 이해와 기술역량을 확보하고 있으며, 산업 클러스터와 네트워크를 활용해 시장성을 검증한다. 그리고 클라우드 인프라와 글로벌 사업전개 역량을 활용해 성장하고, 적극적인 인수합병으로 지속적으로 포트폴리오를 보완, 확대하는 모습을 보인다.
