Mosaic number is one of the knot invariants. However, there are not so many results even in the case of the prime knots. Recent studies completed the classification of prime knots with mosaic number 7 or less, but those are almost all the consequences until now. In this paper, we classify prime knots with mosaic number 6 in slightly different method. Compared to the preceding researches, the approach used in our work is a bit cumbersome in some point, but it also has some advantages. Such differences and advantages will be pointed out during the classification. Also, we give some partial results and conjectures on the classifications of composite knots and links.
Consequently, there are 122 prime knots with mosaic number 6 and crossing number greater than 8. Moreover, we may discover a mild clue that there are not so many composite knots and links with mosaic number 6. The main difficulty is that there are enormous amount of possible knot projections on the 6 x 6 knot mosaic, even though we exclude considerable configurations in advance. It was handled by a proper software package with some additional computer programming.
모자이크 수는 매듭 불변량 중 하나이다. 그러나, 모자이크 수에 대한 결과는 소 매듭의 경우에도 적은 내용많이 알려져 있다. 최근의 연구에서 모자이크 수 7 이하를 가지는 소 매듭들의 분류가 완료되었으나, 이것이 지금까지 알려진 거의 모든 결과이다. 이 연구에서, 우리는 앞선 연구에서와 조금 다른 방법으로 모자이크 수 6을 가지는 소 매듭들을 분류한다. 이 새로운 접근은 비교적 번거로운 부분도 있지만, 선행 연구에서 사용된 방법과 비교하여 장점도 가진다. 일련의 차이점 및 장점이 분류 과정에서 함께 제시될 것이다. 또한, 합성 매듭 및 링크의 분류에 대한 부분적인 결과들을 서술한다.
결과적으로, 모자이크 수 6을 가지며 교차 수 9 이상인 소 매듭은 122개가 있으며, 합성 매듭 및 링크 또한 그 수가 많지 않음을 추측할 수 있는 몇 개의 단서를 얻을 수 있었다. 이 연구의 주된 어려움은 6 x 6 모자이크 위에 가능한 사영의 경우의 수의 막대함에 있다. 이 문제는 적절한 소프트웨어 패키지 및 추가적인 컴퓨터 프로그래밍을 통해 해결되었다.
