Motivating students is one of the most important areas of research in education. For a long time, educators have conducted research on various forms of goals and rewards, because the motivational effect varies sharply depending on what goals they set and what rewards they provide. Based on the students' learning data, this study presented customized goals and provided financial compensation for them. And through this, we observed under which conditions the students studied the hardest. The findings of this experiment, which broke the mold of traditional educational experiments, may suggest significant insights into the rapidly expanding future online education industry.
학생들에게 동기부여를 하는 것은 교육 분야에 있어서 가장 중요한 연구 분야 중 하나이다. 특히 어떤 목표를 설정하고 또 어떠한 보상을 제공하느냐에 따라 동기부여 효과는 극명하게 달라지기 때문에, 오랜 시간 교육자들은 다양한 형태의 목표와 보상에 대한 연구를 진행해왔다. 본 연구는 학생들의 학습 데이터를 토대로 맞춤형 목표를 제시하고 그에 대한 금전적 보상을 제공함으로써, 어떤 조건 아래 학생들이 가장 열심히 공부를 수행하는지 관찰하였다. 전통적인 교육 실험의 틀을 깬 본 실험의 연구 결과는 빠른 속도로 확장되고 있는 미래의 온라인 교육 산업에 유의미한 인사이트를 제안할 수 있다.
