The purpose of this study is to consider how the power structure of North Korea has changed from the late Kim Jong-il administration (after 2003) to the present, and to derive a driving force of future change. Due to its closed nature, it is difficult to secure data and verify reliability. It is necessary to make a comprehensive analysis through the application of various methodologies and theories by using the available data. Therefore, the author used Social Network Analysis thru forming a network of power elites who carried out the public activities of North Korea's supreme leader and integrated conducting block modeling, centrality analysis, and centralization index analysis. As a result of the analysis, Kim Jung Eun promoted strategies for a Socialist State based on the Political Bureau and the State Council, a substantial end to military-first politics, restore and enhance functions of party and consolidated of the power of the leader. Kim Jung Eun is the peak and center of the country's power structure, and Kim Jung Eun's sudden accident is expected as a driving force and X-event for the change in the North's power structure.
본 연구는 김정일 정권 후반기(2003년 이후)부터 현재에 이르기까지 북한의 권력구조가 어떻게 변화하여 왔는가를 고찰하고, 미래 변화의 핵심동인을 도출하는데 목적이 있다. 북한은 그 폐쇄적인 특성으로 인해 자료의 확보와 신뢰성 확인이 쉽지 않다. 따라서 가용한 자료를 최대한 활용하여 다양한 방법론 및 이론의 적용을 통해 종합적으로 분석하는 것이 필요하다. 이를 위해 저자는 북한 최고지도자의 공개활동을 수행한 권력엘리트의 네트워크를 구성하고 블록모델링, 중앙성 분석, 중심화 지수 분석 등을 시행하여 북한 권력구조 변화를 통합적으로 분석하였다. 분석결과, 김정은은 선군정치의 실질적 종식, 당 기능 복원 및 강화, 당 정치국과 국무위원회를 중심으로 한 사회주의 정상국가 전략을 추진하며 수령의 권력을 공고화 하였다. 수령은 북한 권력구조의 정점이자 중앙으로서, 저자는 김정은의 갑작스러운 유고가 북한 권력구조 변화의 핵심동인이자 X-event로 작용할 것으로 예측하였다.
