This work attempts to improve the stereo fisheye depth estimation for far away objects. Fisheye cameras have a great advantage over traditional cameras in that they have a wider field of view (FoV) to perceive its surroundings. However, due to the larger sampling rate from the wider FoV, the wide FoV information is compressed into a limited sensor array. When performing stereo depth estimation using fisheye cameras, the depth is estimated using disparity between corresponding pixels. When attempting to estimate depth for far away objects, low resolution images lack depth resolution as the disparity resolution is reduced; this effect is more apparent in fisheye cameras as these cameras have lower spatial resolution. To improve the depth resolution of far away objects in fisheye camera stereo depth estimation, the proposed research applies super-resolution on fisheye images. By performing super resolution, the disparity resolution is increased as well as the depth resolution.
본 연구는 어안렌즈에서의 거리측정을 더 정밀하게 하기 위한 연구이다. 어안렌즈는 큰 광각을 볼수있는 장점이 있지만, 광각 정보를 크기가 한정적인 센서로 받으면서 각 방향으로부터 얻은 정보밀도가 떨어지며 정보 추출시에 한계가 있게된다. 어안렌즈로 스테레오 거리 측정을 할 시 거리는 두 영상에서 대응되는 점들의 픽셀 위치 차이값으로 나타나지며, 만약 영상의 해상도가 낮을경우 멀리있는 물체에 대해서 정밀하게 거리를 나타내기가 힘들어 진다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 물체에 대해서 더 정밀한 거리 측정을 위해 스테레오 영상을 초해상화를 하여 거리 측정을 한다. 또한, 이 연구는 어안렌즈의 특성에 맞추어 초해상화할 영역을 구분하여 해당 영역에 대해서 거리 측정을 더 정밀하게 하는 연구를 한다.
