This study identifies the oligopolistic structure of the hospital industry in Korea, and proposes an empirical model to identify market competition in special industries such as emergency departments. I use the entry model which developed in a previous literature and applied it to the hospital industry, and extend it through the emergency department industry to verify how the effect of designation has a difference in competition, even though they have same quality. The results show that the entry in the hospital industry is a rapid transition to a perfectly competitive market, and non-certified facilities in the emergency department industry have more impact on entry than certified ones. In addition, through the estimation of each administrative district in Korea, I improve the suitability and judge the area where there is a lack of facilities.
본 연구는 대한민국의 의료기관 산업의 과점 구조를 파악하고, 응급의료시설과 같은 특수한 산업에서 시장 경쟁 구조를 분석하기 위한 실증적 모델을 제안한다. 기존 문헌에서 발전된 진입 모형을 사용하여 의료기관 산업에 적용하고, 이를 확장하여 품질은 동일하지만 국가로부터의 지정 여부에 따라 경쟁에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 응급의료시설 산업을 통해 측정한다. 결과는 의료기관에서 진입은 완전 경쟁 시장으로의 빠른 돌입을 보여 주며, 응급의료시설 산업에서 인증되지 않은 시설은 인증된 시설보다 진입에 더 많은 영향을 미친다. 또한, 대한민국의 행정구역별 추정을 통해 적합성을 향상시키고 시설이 부족한 지역을 판단한다.
