Understanding the relationship between light and sleep is essential to address the sleep disorders that many people face today. Stimulus from light is accepted through opsin in the Photoreceptor cell and recent studies find out the existence of melanopsin in pRGCs (photosensitive retinal ganglion cells) that shows arousal effect related to blue light. Therefore, in this thesis, the effect of blue light is confirmed through pre-clinical trials using own set mouse experimental model, and furthermore, the unknown effect of longer-wavelength light is studied. Particularly, by illuminating various-wavelength light at ZT0 that shows the highest sleep desire in rodents, this study confirm the direct effect for sleep not the indirect effect like circadian rhythm. Based on this, for treatment of sleep disorders, transparent OLED glasses system is proposed that can be used in daily life. Especially, the DMD structure using thin silver and high-refractive index dielectric shows poor reliability including lifetime although they show higher transmittance than the other structures. In this thesis, doped in ETL (electron transport layer) is proposed to enhance lifetime comparing with other existing structures.
