Nowadays, electrical impedance tomography which is not harmful to the body is mainly used to measure nerve signals. This study presents a continuous-time delta-sigma modulator that can satisfy both the high resolution mode and the low power mode used in electrical impedance tomography. In the low power mode, power consumption is reduced by minimizing the use of active devices such as amplifiers. In the high resolution mode, noise coupling technique is used to effectively reduce the quantization noise. In previous research, analog noise coupling has poor power consumption and design complexity. Digital noise coupling reduces power consumption and are simpler to design, but the performance is reduced by the added quantization noise. The proposed hybrid noise coupling uses both analog and digital circuits to improve the performance reduction by additional shaping of the added quantization noise while maintaining the advantages of digital noise coupling. The proposed modulator satisfies all the requirements of the electrical impedance tomography circuit using a 28 nm CMOS process.
