Microphase separation is a properties of linear block copolymer and there are many research results related to these areas. Usually, in case of linear block copolymer, by changing side chain length, different kinds of morphology are appeared. On the other hand, in case of bottlebrush block copolymer, the difference of side chain length also makes morphology changed. We assumed that morphology of linear block copolymer would be changed by grafting another polymer to branch. Using PPFPA40-PS60 block copolymer, we synthesized bottlebrush block copolymer by post-polymerization modification that utilize active PFP group on the PPFPA side chain. The PEG grafted PPFPA-b-PS was then characterized by small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). According to the molecular weight and grafting density of PEG, we observed that morphology of bottlebrush block copolymer was changed.
선형 블록 공중합체는 미세 상분리가 일어나며 관련된 많은 연구들이 있다. 보통 선형 블록 공중합체는 각각의 주쇄의 길이를 조절함으로써 다양한 모폴로지를 얻을 수 있다. 반면에 브러시 블록 공중합체는 주쇄의 길이와 측쇄의 길이 차이에 의해서 모폴로지가 변화한다. 따라서 선형 블록 공중합체에 측쇄 고분자를 연결시키면 미세 상 구조가 변화할 것이라 예상하였다. 활성 고분자인 폴리펜타플루오페닐아크릴레이트-b-폴리스타이렌 (PPFPA-b-PS) 선형 블록 공중합체를 포스트 중합을 통하여 브러시 블록 공중합체를 합성하였다. 폴리에틸렌글라이콜 (PEG)로 치환된 브러시 블록 공중합체를 소각 X선 산란 분석을 통해서 모폴로지를 분석하였다. 치환된 PEG의 분자량과 접목 밀도 (grafting density)를 조절하여, 브러시 블록 공중합체의 모폴로지가 변화하는 것을 확인하였다.
