This research focuses on retracing the so-called value stocks and see where the alphas come from. By performing fundamental analysis, we can explain these phenomena and reveal that investor are actually buying risky growth. Both E/P and B/P needs to considered. While E/P(PER) represents an expected increase in earnings, price also discounts for the inherent risk in growth. Given E/P, higher the B/P, higher the expected growth along with the risk of growth. This means the traditional classification of low B/P stocks as Growth stocks which implies growth with low risk may need to be reconsidered.
