Rotary Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones, have advantages in various aspects, yet the actual applications are limited due to the flight range. However, it is challenging to increase the flight range through enhancement of batteries and the aviation mechanics used to estimate the flight time of the unmanned aerial vehicle requires a lot of knowledge for aerodynamics. In this thesis, we introduce the first step of systematic drone low-power design-time and runtime optimization in the framework of electronic design automation (EDA). We attempt the UAV power management without in-depth knowledge of aerodynamics and control theory. Instead, we introduce a novel power modeling of drones where the inputs are three-axis velocity and acceleration, and the output is instantaneous UAV power consumption.
