This study strives to explore the critical success factors in Information Systems Development(ISD) projects. To provide considerable insights to project success framework, two research questions are brought up in this thesis. Firstly, one of the main research questions is that which critical success factors determine ISD project success in the context of project team. Secondly, the other research question is that there is a heterogeneity of project success framework between public sectors and private sectors. Thus, the two essays are researched in this thesis to find out convincing answers to those research questions.
The first essay aims to assess the success of ISD projects using a team effectiveness model and to determine the factors that influence the ISD project success. We adopt Command Effectiveness(CTEF) Model derived from Essens et al.(2005) to demonstrate our hypotheses. We also analyze the differences in project success between the public and private sectors to derive some practical and theoretical implications. We survey proficient project management professionals and use structural equation modeling to demonstrate our hypotheses. The research results indicate that task, organization, team leader, team, and communication have sufficient evidence to improve project behaviors, and project behaviors strengthen the possibility of ISD project success as a mediator. Lastly, we substantiate that the most distinctive heterogeneous factor between public and private sectors is communication, which is composed of communication structure, relevance, and diversity.
The second essay examines to analyze how the quality of leadership and teamwork influences project success in information systems development (ISD). The proposed research model endeavors to substantiate the heterogeneity of project success in the public and private sectors to assist project managers. We surveyed experienced Korean project managers in both the public and private sectors and applied a partial leaser squares (PLS) method to the data to empirically prove out hypotheses. According to our derived results, the network governance leadership, entrepreneur leadership, and transactional leadership styles have a significant and positive influence on teamwork quality, while teamwork works as a mediator that determines an ISD project’s success. The comparative analysis of the public and private sectors showed that transactional leadership and entrepreneurial leadership styles are efficient in ISD project in the public sector, while transformational leadership and network governance leadership styles are appropriate in the private sector.
Accordingly, these implications and findings in this thesis furnish experienced researchers and practitioners with momentous insights such as the importance of teamwork and leadership, the impact on the project success, and so forth.
이 연구는 정보 시스템 개발 (ISD) 프로젝트에서 중요한 성공 요인을 탐구하기 위해 노력합니다. 프로젝트 성공 프레임 워크에 대한 상당한 통찰력을 제공하기 위해이 논문에 두 가지 연구 질문이 제기되었습니다. 첫째, 주요 연구 질문 중 하나는 프로젝트 팀의 맥락에서 ISD 프로젝트 성공을 결정 짓는 중요한 성공 요소가 무엇인지에 있습니다. 둘째, 다른 연구 문제는 공공 부문과 민간 부문 간의 프로젝트 성공 프레임 워크의 이질성이 있다는 것이다. 따라서이 연구 논문에 대한 설득력있는 답변을 찾기 위해이 논문에서 두 가지 에세이를 연구합니다.
첫 번째 에세이는 팀 효율성 모델을 사용하여 ISD 프로젝트의 성공 여부를 평가하고 ISD 프로젝트 성공에 영향을 미치는 요소를 결정하는 것을 목표로합니다. 우리는 가설을 증명하기 위해 Essens et al. (2005)에서 파생 된 Command Effectiveness (CTEF) 모델을 채택합니다. 우리는 또한 공공 부문과 민간 부문의 프로젝트 성공의 차이점을 분석하여 실용적이고 이론적 인 의미를 도출합니다. 능숙한 프로젝트 관리 전문가를 조사하고 구조 방정식 모델링을 사용하여 가설을 증명합니다. 연구 결과에 따르면 과제, 조직, 팀 리더, 팀 및 의사 소통은 프로젝트 행동을 개선 할 수있는 충분한 증거를 갖고 있으며 프로젝트 행동은 ISD 프로젝트가 중재자로서 성공할 수있는 가능성을 강화시킵니다. 마지막으로 우리는 공공 부문과 민간 부문에서 가장 두드러진 이질적 요인이 커뮤니케이션 구조, 관련성 및 다양성으로 구성된 커뮤니케이션임을 입증합니다.
두 번째 에세이는 정보 시스템 개발 (ISD)에서 프로젝트 성공에 영향을 미치는 리더십과 팀워크의 품질을 분석하는 방법을 검토합니다. 제안 된 연구 모델은 프로젝트 관리자를 돕기 위해 공공 및 민간 부문에서 프로젝트 성공의 이질성을 입증하기 위해 노력합니다. 우리는 공공 및 민간 분야의 숙련 된 한국인 프로젝트 관리자를 대상으로 실증적으로 가설을 입증하기 위해 데이터에 부분적으로 레이저 제곱 법 (PLS)을 적용했습니다. 우리의 파생 결과에 따르면 네트워크 거버넌스 리더십, 기업가 리더십 및 트랜잭션 리더십 스타일은 팀웍의 품질에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤지 만 팀웍은 ISD 프로젝트의 성공 여부를 결정하는 중재자 역할을합니다. 공공 부문과 민간 부문의 비교 분석 결과 공공 부문의 ISD 프로젝트에서 거래 리더십과 기업 리더십 스타일이 효율적 이었지만 민간 부문에서는 변형 적 리더십과 네트워크 거버넌스 리더십 스타일이 적절함을 알 수있었습니다.
따라서이 논문의 이러한 함의와 발견은 숙련 된 연구자와 실무자에게 팀웍과 리더십의 중요성, 프로젝트 성공에 미치는 영향 등과 같은 인사이트를 제공합니다.
