The number of small cells is expected to increase in order to ease increasing data traffic. To mitigate the interference between small cells, small cell antenna needs the beam steering features. In this thesis, a dipole-based antenna using parasitic elements to implement beam steering features is proposed. The various phenomena considered in the antenna design were verified through the mathematical method and simulation, and the beam steering features were verified by measurements of the implemented antenna. Unlike the conventional small cell antenna, the proposed antenna is expected to be able to avoid intercell interference more flexibly because beam steering is possible in both elevation plane and azimuth plane.
