This paper presents the way to design the personality of conversational agents(CAs). CAs rapidly become pervasive in common life. The fact that the users assign a personality to it when they heard the voice is important because the personality of the agents affect the user's experience or usage patterns. However, there is still a lack of comprehension of the personality of CAs. First, we developed a set of adjectives that describes the personality of CAs. After that, we asked 77 participants who use smart speakers to collect a set of adjectives and the behaviors to describe the personality of CAs. As a result, we discovered the five dimensions that describe the personality of CAs: Spontaneity, Passiveness, Comfortableness|, Reliability, and Consistency. We suggest a framework that can help designers to create a structured and consistent personality in designing CAs.
본 연구는 대화 형 에이전트 (Conversational Agents, CA)의 성격 디자인의 체계적 이해에 대해 다룬다. 대화형 에이전트는 일상 생활에 널리 쓰이고 있다. 대화형 에이전트의 성격은 사용자의 경험이나 사용 패턴에 영향을 주기 때문에 사용자가 에이전트와 상호작용할 때 성격적 측면을 경험한다는 사실은 중요하다. 그러나 여전히 대화형 에이전트의 성격에 대한 체계적인 이해에 대한 연구는 부족하다. 본 연구는 대화형 에이전트의 성격을 묘사하는 형용사 그룹을 도출하고 이를 통해 대화형 에이전트의 성격 체계를 제시한다. 본 연구에서는 스마트 스피커를 사용하는 77명의 참가자를 통해 그들이 경험하는 에이전트의 성격적 요소와 이를 유발하는 에이전트의 행동을 수집했다. 결과적으로 대화형 에이전트의 성격을 나타내는 5 가지 요소, 즉 주체성(Spontaneity),수동성(Passiveness), 편의성(Comfortableness), 신뢰성(Reliability) 및 지속성(Consistency)을 추출했다. 디자이너가 대화형 에이전트를 디자인할 때 구조화되고 일관된 성격을 만들 수 있는 프레임워크를 제시하고자 한다.
