The Condorcet and Borda methods are the most frequently discussed methods for social choice. In this paper, we focus on probabilities of social-choice failure in simulated situations with various preference profiles and different numbers of alternatives and voters. The results are compared to the results of deterministic situations. By comparing various simulation results with the results of theoretical studies, we improve the empirical feasibility of theoretical studies. As the number of voters is increased, the probability of choice failure is decreased. The failure probabilities under the Borda method are lower than those under the Condorcet method.
사회적 선택을 위한 콩도르세 방식과 보다의 방식은 가장 대표적이고 많은 연구가 이루어져 온 방식이다. 본 논문에서는 선호순서의 확률분포, 단봉선호의 고려 여부, 선택지의 수라는 3가지 조건이 달라짐에 따라 콩도르세와 보다의 방식으로 하나의 사회적 선택을 결정하는데 실패할 확률이 어떻게 변화하는지를 시뮬레이션을 통해 확인하였다. 이를 개인의 선호가 특정 확률 분포로 결정된 상태의 결과와 비교하여 다른 두 상황에서의 실패 확률을 비교하였다. 또한 본 논문에서는 다양한 조건에서 시행된 시뮬레이션의 결과들을 여러 이론적 연구의 결과들과 비교함으로써 이론적 연구의 실증적 타당성을 더한다. 유권자의 수가 증가함에 따라 하나의 사회적 선택에 실패하는 확률은 줄어들었고, 보다의 방식이 콩도르세 방식에 비교하여 실패 확률이 낮았다.
