This study focuses on the macroeconomic effect of investment-specific technological shock. From the stylized facts where investment expenditure components of GDP reveals procyclical property and large variability, this work studied a real business cycle theory-based model incorporating both neutral and investment-specific productivity change. Theoretical analysis of this model revealed some implications for the both long-run and short-run implications of the model and relevant difference in terms of welfare compensation. Empirically, the structural vector autoregressive model with theory-driven restrictions, estimated with recent Korea economic indicators revealed similar short-run impulse response property compared with theoretical one and forecast error variance decomposition resulted in explaining about 30% of overall variability of labor productivity and hours worked.
본 연구에서는 투자부문에 한정해 작용하는 생산성 충격의 거시경제적 영향을 다루었다. 투자 지출의 규모가 시간에 따라 증가함과 동시에 투자의 효율성을 나타내는 투자재 가격은 감소한다는 정형화된 사실로부터 중립적 및 투자부문 한정 생산성이 추계적으로 성장하는 실물경기변동이론 기반 모형을 고려하였고, 생산성의 충격만이 장기적 관점에서 투자재의 가격과 노동 생산성 등의 지표에 영향을 미친다는 점과 후생 비용 측면에서 투자부문의 생산성 충격이 중립적 생산성 충격에 비해 더 큰 효과를 가져올 수 있음을 이론적으로 검증하였다. 더불어 이와 같은 장기적 함의를 기반으로 실증 분석을 위한 구조적 벡터 자기회귀모형에 필요한 제약을 가하고 2000년 이후 한국의 경제 지표 기반 자료를 적합한 결과 이론적 모형과 실증 모형의 충격 반응의 형태가 유사하다는 단기적 함의와 더불어 분산분해를 통해 투자부문 생산성과 중립적 생산성이 노동생산성 및 노동시간 변동의 30% 가량을 설명한다는 사실을 확인하였다.
