To generate profit, a firm should manage its value life cycle optimally. That is, the firm has to succeed in developing new products, and produce them effectively to gain the competitive advantage and generate profits. In this sense, I conduct three studies related to the optimal management of value life cycle. In the first study, I investigate the determinant of R&D performance using the data of Korean SMEs. In the second study, I investigate the relationship between inventory and firm performance empirically using the data of manufacturing firms in Korea. In addition, I examine the moderating effects of R&D intensity and competitive intensity. In the last study, I investigate the methods to mitigate the gap between optimal inventory level and decisions of decision makers from learning perspective using the newsvendor experiment.
본 학위 논문은 가치수명주기의 최적경영에 대해 다루었다. 가치수명주기 관점에서 기업이 경쟁 우위를 확보하기 위해 필요한 핵심역량들에 대해 세 가지 연구를 진행하였다. 첫번째 연구는 기업의 R&D 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대해 국내 중소기업을 대상으로 알아보았다. 두번째 연구는 국내 KOSPI와 KOSDAQ 상장 제조 기업을 대상으로 재고와 기업 성과 간의 관계에 대해 조사하였으며, 더 나아가 기업의 혁신성과 산업 경쟁 정도가 이들 관계에 미치는 영향에 대해서 알아보았다. 마지막으로 세번째 연구에서는 국내 대학생들을 대상으로 한 뉴스벤더 모형 실험을 통해 의사결정자가 최적의 주문을 할 수 있게 도와주는 방법에 대해 교육 관점에서 알아보았다.
