Sociality plays a vital role in our daily lives. Be it a hyper-local search for finding a restaurant to eat or a global search for your next travel destination; as humans, we tend to make our choices considering the social atmosphere offered by the place. Placeness, in this context, refers to the social and cultural semantics of the space under consideration and represents the distinctiveness of a place. In this work, we aim to discover placeness as the exemplary community experience associated with a given location. We do this by, first adopting a flexible methodology for mining placeness, and then proposing a novel unsupervised mechanism for discovering placeness. Furthermore, we implement placeness as an IoT service for Smart City dwellers, calling it as Location Digest, by using GS1 standards-based Open Language for the Internet of Things (Oliot) platform. We report a sufficiently high F1-score of 0.81 for our unsupervised placeness discovery mechanism and present Location Digest as an essential service for assisting tourists in a Smart City.
사회성은 우리의 일상생활에서 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 그것이 레스토랑을 찾는 하이퍼 로컬 검색 또는 다음 여행지를 위한 글로벌 차원의 검색이든, 우리는 인간으로서 각 장소에서 제공되는 사회적 분위기, 혹은 `사회성'을 기반으로 하여 선택을 하곤 한다. 이 문맥에서 `장소성'이란 고려중인 공간의 사회적 및 문화적 의미를 나타내며 장소의 차별성을 나타낸다. 이 논문은 주어진 위치와 관련된 예시적인 커뮤니티 경험으로서의 장소성을 발견하는 것을 목표로 한다. 저자는 이를 수행하기 위해 우선적으로 장소성 발굴을 위한 유연한 방법론을 채택한 다음 장소성을 발견하기 위한 새로운 방식의 비지도 메커니즘을 제안한다. 또한 스마트 도시 거주자를 위한 IoT 서비스로서의 장소성을 함께 제시하며, 이 논문에서는 이를 `위치 다이제스트'라고 칭하며, GS1 표준 기반의 Open Language를 Internet of Things (Oliot) 플랫폼으로 사용한다. 또한 이 논문에서는 비지도 장소성 발견 메커니즘에 기반한 스마트 도시의 관광객을 돕기 위한 필수 서비스인 `위치 다이제스트' 서비스가 0.81이라는 충분히 높은 F1 점수를 얻었음을 보여주고 있다.
