In order to analyze and improve the golf swing, an efficient golf swing methods and posture are analyzed through a biomechanical model, and studies are being conducted. Among the motion capture devices cur-rently used for swing analysis, the wearable motion measurement system based on the inertial sensor is re-cently attracting attention as an alternative to overcome the existing optical motion measurement system, which has disadvantages such as wide space, limited space and high cost. However, in order to improve wear-ing comfort, a reduction in the number and size of sensors is required, which leads to a reduction in the amount of collected motion data, thus there is a conflict between convenience and data validity. In this study, we propose a method of estimating unmeasured swing data by using human body kinetic model instead of kinematic model or statistical model used in previous studies to estimate human body motion from measure-ment information of limited sensor. Although the swing motion of golf is a dynamic phenomenon, which is a relationship between a force and a motion generated in the human body, since there are many muscles in-volved in generating a muscle force, there exist various methods of generating joint torques. In addition, since golf swing is a complicated three-dimensional motion involving the sequential excitation of all joints, there has not yet been attempted to solve the contradictory factor between the sensor number and the collect-ed information by using a dynamic model. In this study, we propose a joint torque model that can represent the swing dynamics more easily than the existing models by analyzing the correlation between joint angles and joint torques. In order to solve the complexity of the multi-joint three-dimensional motion, we apply the projection method on the swing plane. Consequently, the golf swing of the upper limb is reproduced during downswing by only the motion information measurable from the IMU sensor at the grip point of the golf club. The estimation result of unmeasured swing motion in golf swing is reported using the proposed swing motion estimation method. The results of the forward dynamics analysis using the proposed joint torque model showed a high correlation with the subjects' swing data. In addition, the change of the swing plane by the subjects was examined, and we confirmed the validity of the modified swing plane analysis method con-sidering the upper body rotation proposed in this study. In addition, the proposed swing motion estimation method is applied to the variation of club type (driver and 7 iron) and the experimental subjects (amateur golfer of various handicaps and professional golfer) and analyzed the estimated motion information results using the proposed model. We analyze the accuracy of the motion information result estimated from the measured information and the model simulation and proposed the use of estimated torque and swing plane information, and so on. In conclusion, this study suggests the possibility of increasing the amount and quality of motion information measured by the sensor by understanding the dynamic characteristics of the human body.
