Most superconducting materials show the competition between the superconducting(SC) phase and the ordered phase in a phase diagram. It is known that in cuprate unconventional superconductor, antiferromagnetic phase not only compete with superconductivity, but also potentially does a crucial role on forming superconductivity. Such argument is also can be applied to charge density wave (CDW) materials. However, the role of CDW on SC formation is not actively considered so far. The first required step is to reveal the interaction between the CDW and the electron.
Such possibility is suggested through the observation of unusual kink feature in the electronic strucfture of quasi 1D CDW system, $NbSe_3$. The kink is attributed as the result of coupling between electron and CDW instability as the kink appears only after the formation of CDW. However, this conjecture was not concretely verified.
In this regard, I studied the electronic structure by means of Angle Resolved Photoemission Sepctroscopy(ARPES) on Ta-doped $NbSe_3$ where CDW is suppressed by Ta doping. By monitoring the kink feature in CDW-suppressed sample, I was able to confirm that the kink is truely manifested by the interaction between CDW and electron. This result reveals possible interaction between electron and CDW thus can provide the foundation for further research for seeking the correlation between the CDW and SC.
