An electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) is an energy-storing device using electrostatic interaction generated by the formation of an electric double layer on the surface of the electrode with electrolyte adsorption phenomenon, and has advantages such as fast charge/discharge speed, high power density, long life and economy. In this thesis, the EDLC characteristics of mesoporosity-controlled carbon materials obtained from various X zeolite templates were analyzed. As a result, at low current density, the microporous carbon showed the highest capacitance value (95 F/g), and the capacitance value gradually decreased with increase of mesoporosity. This is because the specific surface area decreases as the mesoporosity of the carbon material increases. However, the capacitance of microporous carbon is greatly reduced as the current density increases, so that it has a capacitance value of 4 F/g at a current density of 20 A/g. On the other hand, the capacitance of the carbon material having both mesopores and micropores decreased much less, and the capacitance maintained a value of 60 F/g even at a current density of 20 A/g. The constancy of the capacitance is attributed to the added mesopores that facilitate diffusion of the electrolyte into the micropores.
