A patent has its own properties different from those of Technology. These properties are ought to be faithfully reflected to the valuation of the patent. However, the valuation methods used by many of evaluation groups especially in public sector do not reflect the nature of the patent, because existing patent valuation methods is merely a modification of the technology valuation method. In this study, I define the patent value as consisting of the holding value and the exchange value, and propose a new patent valuation method that can be appropriately applied according to the types of patent holders, valuation purposes, valuation timing and market environments.
특허는 기술과 다른 특허만의 속성이 있다. 특허의 가치를 평가하기 위하여 이러한 속성이 잘 반영되어야 한다. 그러나 현재 우리나라 공공 분야를 중심으로 적용되는 특허가치평가방법은 기존의 기술가치평가방법을 일부 변형한 형태로서 특허 본연의 속성을 잘 반영하지 못하는 부분이 있다. 본 연구에서는 특허의 가치를 보유가치와 교환가치의 구성으로 정의하고 가치평가의 주체, 시기, 목적과 시장환경에 따라 적절하게 적용될 수 있는 특허가치평가모델을 제시하고자 한다.
