Software defect prediction is a technique for statistically identifying defective modules or files. Recently, as the open source and version control systems are popular, defect prediction techniques of change units are actively studied. However, the metrics used in change level defect prediction only considered defect induction aspects and did not consider defect removal activity. Defect removal activity is the activity that eliminates defects through automated analysis, testing and peer review. Defect removal activity is one of the important software quality assurance activities that reduce the residual defects of software. In this paper, we propose metrics for quantifying defect removal activity in change level environment and evaluate the performance improvement of the defect prediction model using the metrics. The defect prediction model with the new metrics showed better performance than the defect prediction model using only the existing metric.
소프트웨어 결함 예측이란 결함이 있을 만한 모듈 또는 파일을 통계적으로 식별하는 기법이다. 최근 오픈소스 및 버전 관리 시스템의 활성화됨에 따라 체인지 단위의 결함예측기법 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 기존 체인지 레벨 결함 예측에 사용되던 메트릭 들은 결함 유발 요인만을 고려하고, 결함 제거 활동에 대한 고려를 하지 않았다. 결함 제거 활동은 자동화된 분석, 테스팅, 피어 리뷰를 통해 유입된 결함을 제거하는 활동으로서 소프트웨어의 결함을 줄여주는 중요한 소프트웨어 품질 보증 활동 중 하나다. 이 논문에서는 체인지 레벨 환경에서 결함 제거 활동을 정량화하는 메트릭을 제안하고, 해당 메트릭을 사용하여 결함 예측 모델의 성능을 향상시키는 연구를 진행하였다. 새로운 메트릭을 추가한 결함예측 모델은 기존 메트릭만을 사용한 결함예측모델보다 더 좋은 성능을 보여주었다.
