Producers with no background knowledge in the field of visualization dealing with scientific knowledge are most likely to totally depend on scientists. However, discrepancies in mutual communication cause frequent meetings and constant corrections and modifications even after completion of production. Therefore, visualization producers need to examine the properties of scientific knowledge and analyze how they relate to the scientific literacy among lay people in order to minimize the unnecessary waste of resources. The actor-network theory presents an appropriate methodology for this. This study has applied the analysis methodology of the actor-network theory to the process of producing bio-knowledge visualization and sought to systematize the way producers with lack of background knowledge can proceed with work in a smoothly manner. As a result, it was able to achieve faithful visualization of bio knowledge, reduced reliance on bio researchers, and shorter production periods.
과학지식을 다루는 시각화 분야에서 배경지식이 없는 제작자는 과학자에게 전적으로 의존하게 된다. 하지만 상호간 의사소통의 불일치는 잦은 회의를 열게 하고 제작 이후에도 끊임없는 수정을 반복하게 된다. 따라서 시각화 제작자는 이러한 자원 소모를 줄이기 위해 과학지식의 속성을 파악해보고 이것이 일반인들의 과학 리터러시에 어떻게 작용하는지 분석해볼 필요가 있다. 이에 대한 적절한 방법론을 행위자-연결망 이론이 제시하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 행위자-연결망 이론의 분석 방법론을 바이오 지식 시각화 제작 과정에 적용해 배경지식이 부족한 제작자도 원활하게 작업을 진행할 수 있는 방법을 체계화하고자 했다. 그 결과, 바이오 지식에 충실한 시각화와 바이오 연구자에 대한 의존도 감소, 제작 기간 단축 등을 달성할 수 있었다.
