Multimedia applications which include audio, video, and animation are useful in many areas. Most authors of multimedia applications are not experts in programming. To help application programmers to organize multimedia information conveniently, multimedia authoring tools use metaphors for information representation.
In this thesis, we design and implement a script language for multimedia authoring tools which are event-driven system. Interactive multimedia applications can be constructed by describing the several objects and the response to user's interaction using the script language. The script language has partly object-oriented and partly procedural language features to describe the behavior of the objects according to user action.
In our script language, media objects are provided to handle multimedia information. The scripts for manipulation of media objects are straightforward and natural compared with those of other multimedia authoring tools.
