A switched buck-boost mode control technique for zero current switched(ZCS) series resonant AC to DC converter regulating the DC output voltage with high power factor is proposed. The proposed single phase AC to DC converter enables a zero current switching operation allowing the circuit to operate at high switching frequencies and high power levels. A dynamic model for this AC to DC converter is investigated and an analysis for the internal operational characteristics and problems in a conventional boost type rectifier are considered. To eliminate the phenomena of overcurrent in transient periods, switched buck-boost mode control technique is suggested. With the proposed control technique, the unity power factor without an overcurrent can be obtained.
