To become a member of the developed countries in the 21st century, the Korean government has launched the large-scale projects including TICOM. The objectives of this project are followings: (1) achieving national competitiveness, (2) acquiring the core technologies ＆ (3) accelerating the growth rate of computer industry. To carry out this purposes, the government must intervene from R ＆ D planning activities to market modification activities.
So, this thesis reviews the related literactures, such as achieving competitive advantages of computer industry, characteristics of computer trade and the theories of government policy.
Next, it analyzes two case studies in order to adapt the lessons to TICOM project. It also introduces the background of this project, such as start, project development process, its status quo.
Finally, it summarizes the government activities to achieve the competitiveness of TICOM.
The purpose of this study is to explain basic approaches to R ＆ D planning, market traits and guidelines of the government policy for competitiveness of TICOM.
