The development of information and communication technology is the basis of social change towards information-oriented society, and EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) will be a main axis for information society. The basic principle of EDI is that computer generated trading documents, (such as orders, invoices, etc) are transmitted without paper directly to a trading partner's computer across telecommunication network.
Today, EDI is most lively discussed in the field of information and already fixing step in America, Japan and Europe by almost every industries. In Korea, since in the 1980s, a couple of attempts to implement EDI operations have been made in the steel and automobile industries. Recentry, the KTNet(Korea Trade Network) project accellerated the EDI implementations in the trade, banking, insurance, transportation, and distribution industries.
The purpose of this study is to propose EDI adoption & implementation and to analysis the cost/benefits of EDI in military logistics. There are so many trading steps in the military logistics and military resource are increased rapidly in last two decade, so we need to reform these bottle-neck and increase supply satisfaction rate. EDI can be a effective way to solve these problems, moreover, it gives an opportunity to reengineer the whole process of military logistics.
By using EDI in military logistic, logistic management information system can be established, and EDI can asist the top manager's decision making, as a results, EDI can be a effective management devices in military logistic resources.
