In this thesis, a new control scheme for high power(100KVA) static VAR compensator(SVC) is presented using DSP56001. The high power SVC is modeled as a simple and linear time-invariant system by the method of circuit DQ-transformation. Several problems for the established 10KVA SVC are considered and the solutions for them are suggested. From the model and the suggested solutions, a new controller for high power SVC is proposed. The proposed controller is implemented to compensate reactive power using phase angle control algorithm and is verified through experiment with 100KVA GTO inverter system.
