An analytic solution for TE-mode scattering from a parallel-plate waveguide with periodic grooves is obtained. The Fourier-transform is used to express the scattered field in the spectral domain as superposition of the parallel-plate waveguide modes. The boundary conditions are enforced to obtain simultaneous equations for the transmitted field inside the grooves. The simultaneous equations are solved to represent the transmitted field in series form which is very efficient for numerical computation. Using the residue calculus, the reflection and transmission coefficients are obtained and their filter characteristics are studied in terms of frequency and groove sizes.
평행 도파관에 홈이 유한개 존재할 경우에 TE-mode가 산란되는 특성을 해석하였다. 이러한 구조는 microwave에서는 filter로서 주로 이용되고 Optic 에서는 mode converter, filter등으로 그 용도가 크다고 할수 있다. 이문제를 푸는 수치해석적인 방법으로서는 MM(Moment Method)나 FEM(Finite Element Method)등이 있다. 그러나 이 방법은 도파관에 홈이 증가할수록 계산량과 계산시간이 많아진다는 단점이 있다. 그러므로 이 논문에서는 위와 같은 단점을 보완할수 있는 주파수 영역에서 Fourier Transform방법을 이용하여 분석하였다.
이 논문에서는 이러한 구조는 bandstop filter로서 사용될수 있고 홈의 깊이를 다르게 함으로써 bandpass특성을 가짐을 보였다. 이런 성질은 perturbation이 작을때 물리적으로 Floquet 이론과 잘 일치함을 알수 있었다. 또한 홈의 깊이가 tapered된 경우는 filter ripple (side lobe)이 현저하게 줄어드는 특성이 있음을 알았다.
Mode converter로서 이용될 경우에는 위에서와 같이 perturbation이 작을때 conversion이 잘 일어나는 점이 Floquet이론에서 예측하는 점과 일치하고 홈의 깊이가 linear하게 증가하는 경우에는 broad band한 특성을 가짐을 알수 있었다.
